Oslo, Norway: Norway Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre spoke on India’s import of Russian crude oil, saying he respects the historic ties between India and Russia and understands India’s growing energy needs as a large and rapidly developing nation. However, he stressed that more international pressure should be placed on Russia to bring an end to the war in Ukraine through serious negotiations. Speaking on terrorism, the Norwegian Prime Minister said that every form of terrorism must be strongly condemned. Recalling the terror attack in Oslo 15 years ago, where government buildings were targeted, he said countries that have suffered such attacks understand the pain and stand in solidarity with all nations affected by terrorism. On India-Norway cooperation, he highlighted India’s fast-growing, knowledge-driven economy and young population, expressing confidence that the strong complementarities between the two economies would help achieve the goals of their bilateral agreements. Discussing the Arctic region, Støre said cooperation within the Arctic Council has been impacted due to the Russia-Ukraine war. He added that Norway wants India to play a greater role in Arctic climate research, recognizing India’s growing scientific capabilities and the importance of Arctic climate developments for India as well.#Norway #JonasGahrStore #IndiaNorwayRelations #RussiaUkraineWar #RussianCrude #UkraineWar #PMModi #IndiaRussia #Geopolitics #EnergySecurity
