Mumbai, Maharashtra: On the BJP's victory in West Bengal, Novelist and columnist Shobhaa De says, "The reaction is that of every Indian who's monitored this election, which was that it's a vote for Bengal's progress and it's a democratic vote. No one has challenged that aspect of it. This is a very big thing. And I think the BJP seems to have won fair and square. It's a huge and very unexpected victory. And I'm sure it caught Mamata Banerjee totally off guard. So, naturally, she is now saying that there was something amiss about the whole process. She's blaming the Election Commission, she's blaming everybody else and refusing to resign. My viewpoint is that at the moment, they have already announced that they'll be swearing in the new Chief Minister and they've chosen a very good day as well, which is Rabindranath's birth anniversary..."
